Sami, an ethical jewellery and handbag brand created by our co-founder Sameena, shines a light on the incredibly talented artisans in India and the Philippines.
Sameena develops all jewellery designs herself, inspired by the colours of nature and statement designs. Her beautiful jewellery has the extra sustainability layer in that she can make the same staple outfit look different, just by switching up the earrings. Whether you’re looking for a piece of sustainable jewellery as a gift, or something to change your workwear to evening wear, Sami has a pair of earrings that’d be perfect.
The Sami jewellery collection is handcrafted by small groups of fair wage artisans in Mumbai and Jaipur. Her latest collection is made from real semi-precious gemstones including amethyst, quartz and citrine, and gold-plated silver.
Caring passionately about all children having the right to a bright future, Sameena has chosen to donate 10% of all Sami sales to Future Hope, a charity focused on providing safety and a classroom education to children living in slums and on the streets of India.
The Sami clutch handbags have also become a firm favourite at Ethical Stories Ethical Me, with everyone loving the texture and movement in all of the bags. Sameena works with a cooperative of fair wage female artisans in Manila, Philippines to hand weave the bags. The textiles themselves are offcuts from fashion houses in the Philippines, which would otherwise go to landfill. Again, these are inspired by the colours of nature, including the lilac and orange clutch from the crocus, the navy clutch from ocean, and the red and yellow from the poppy.
